The success of the students is defined as per the grades they get from midterms and quizzes and the success mark to be given by their lecturers. The exams to be taken by students in a year are as follows:

• Quiz :

Two quizzes for all skills are held in a semester. Quizzes are for ensuring course follow-ups for students; improving their language abilities and helping them see their deficiencies. At the dates of quizzes, courses are conducted as well. There are no make-up exams for quizzes. They account for the 30 % of the average grade each semester.

• Mid-Term Exams :

There are two mid-term exam weeks in a year and courses are not conducted in these weeks. Midterms are composed of speaking, listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary sessions. Midterms prepare and guide the students for proficiency exam. The date, time and place of the exams are announced to the students beforehand. They account for the %50 of the average grade.

• Final Exam (Proficiency Exam) :

A 100-point general exam is held at the end of each academic year. Listening- comprehension, reading-comprehension, grammar and vocabulary make up the part of 80 points and the remaining 20 points is left for writing in this exam. Students exceeding the absence limit and whose general point average of the two semesters is below CB(70) cannot take this examination. The date, place and the time of the exam is announced beforehand on the notice board. The Students getting minimum 70 from this exam are successful in completing School of Foreign Languages English Preparatory Unit and entitled to enroll in their faculties and graduate school.
